Well… progress in the guest room continues. Over the weekend I managed to wrap-up the painting (thankfully two coats was enough) before my parents stopped by for some youthful symphony and sushi. I also started repairs on the baseboards, although I still have a bit more work to do before they can get a new coat of paint. So, I’m not quite ready to share the “after” update, but with any luck, we should have some visuals by the end of the week.
What I thought I would share is some inspiration for the accent wall that I’m planning to paint behind the bed/headboard. About a year ago while we were prepping the condo for sale in London, I used a home-made Moroccan stencil to update the very beige dining room. Since our little guest room makeover is coming together on a non-existent budget, I thought this might be a good application to try again to bring some affordable interest into the tiny space.
Right now I’m wavering between two patterns, a herringbone and a geometric circle pattern.

Thoughts? I am kind of leaning towards the herringbone just because it seems like a simpler pattern to apply (tape rather than DIY stencil). Cast a vote in the comments below… as I do with Jeff’s suggestions, I might just take it into consideration.
Have a great week!

A Swell Place to Dwell

I think I’m liking the herringbone. I bet it would be easier! I stenciled a small-ish wall in a 1/2 bath and it took forever. I’m thinking painters tape, a level, rollers, and you are done. Good luck =)
Thanks, Kelly!
I’m going to be difficult and vote the circles! Haha! But both are great!
Thanks, Angie! I’m loving the circles too. Maybe I’ll just close my eyes and start painting… could end up pretty weird.
I love the herringbone idea! I mean, either one is going to look great, but the herringbone (to me) seems a bit more.. awesome? Probably not a logical reason to do it, but it gets my vote!
Thanks Nikki! I appreciate the feedback. Awesomeness is the only reason I do anything.
